Is it getting better? Nao Miyahara

I would like to talk about health. I think the health of the world is getting better than in the past. The first graph shows the changes in life expectancy in Japan between 2000 and 2019. In 2000, the life expectancy of women was 84.6 years old, and that of men was 77.72 years old. However, in 2019, the life expectancy of women was 87.45 years old. So, life expectancy increased by about three years. Also, the life expectancy of men in 2019 was 81.41 years old. Life expectancy increased by about four years old.

The second graph illustrates cancer’s ten-year survival rate between 1999 and 2008. The cancer survival rate increased slightly. The cancer survival rate in 1999 was 54%, and the proportion in 2008 was 58%.

The third graph depicts the number of individual kidney transplants per year between 2008 and 2019. Overall, the number of transplants was significantly increasing. In 2008, the number of transplants was about 21. 2011 had the lowest number of transplants, less than 10. On the other hand, the number of transplants in 2019 is 35. That is about three times what it was in 2011.

In conclusion, from the three graphs mentioned above, medical care has incredibly developed and health has improved compared to the past. Therefore, I think that the health of the world is getting better now.
