Is it getting better? Ren Funayama
Poverty is a severe problem worldwide because 1 in 10 people are still poor now. However, the situation is getting better.
First, look at this graph. This is a paper from the World Bank describing the challenges of estimating consumption and income in extremely poor settings in 2015. The number of people who live in poverty and extreme poverty gradually decrease between 1820 and 1960. In addition, the number of people who live in poverty rapidly went down to 24% by 2000. the amount of people who live in extreme poverty was also 52% in 2000.
Second, you will be able to understand to decrease the number of people in poverty when you see this graph. The 2015 forecast of extreme poverty rates was released in October from the World Bamk. the number of people living on 1.9$ a day modestly decreased from 1990 to 1999. After that, the rate plummet until 2015.

Finally, I would explain about this graph. This cleary shows the percentage of people in each country living below what the World Bank defines as extreme poverty, or $1.90/day. The World bank investigated it in 2015. Some of these maps we compare 2011 figures against 2015. You know many countries are green. It means the proportion of poverty in these countries is less than 5% in 2011. However, some of African countries are poverty, the rate of this was approximately 50%.
Although we chose the same topic, we researched two different graphs. I was interested third graph too.
ReplyDeleteI also think we have to donate money to some countries in poverty.
ReplyDeleteNow is a suitable time for charity! Let's goooo...

ReplyDeleteIt is a very interesting topic! In the third graph, we can see how many people in poverty are in African countries.
ReplyDeleteThe third graph is quite clear, it shows which areas and countries are suffering from poverty.
