Pandemic of the Past; A Reflection Mai Kanda

I learned that the scale of all pandemics including the bubonic plague, the cholera epidemic, and the Spanish flu is more enormous than I have ever thought. I was surprised by the Spanish flu the most because I heard that about 50 million people died from the Spanish flu in 1918. It is an incredible number and I was very sad to hear this fact. Then, I think that the bubonic plague is the most terrifying to face. This is because there are a lot of vaccines for the Spanish flu and cholera around the world, but not vaccines for the bubonic plague. It is terrible. However, I think there are important things from these pandemics to prepare for future pandemics. I think the important thing is being aware of personal hygiene, for example, washing your hands and not touching anything unsanitary. Finally, I think that we have learned a lot from COVID-19. This is because I heard the news that compared with the previous year, the number of patients with the Spanish flu last year was lower significantly since more people washed their hands and wore masks to prevent COVID-19.
