Pandemics of the Past: A Reflection Aina Taniguchi
From the pandemics of bubonic plague, cholera, and Spanish flu, I learned the importance of proper knowledge and sanitary and the fear of these epidemics because without proper knowledge, it is impossible to take appropriate treatments and may even lead to the spread of infection. I was surprised that so many people died in all these pandemics, but especially surprised that cholera lasted for 200 years and even with modern technology we still haven't figured out where the Spanish flu originated.
In my opinion, Spanish flu is the most horrible infection to face. The reason I think so is because there are the amount of many more symptoms than other plagues, and once you're infected, you only have a short time before you die.
From these pandemics, we can learn the importance of identifying the cause of an infectious disease and responding quickly when it spreads. I think this would greatly reduce the number of deaths. Finally, I think the positive change that have resulted from the Covid-19 is the development of remote work and education. People can now live without going to work or school. And I feel this has allowed people to live a lifestyle that suits them.
It's important to find cause of pandemic.
